The University of Pisa, formally established in 1343, is one of the oldest universities in the world. While ancient in its origin, the university has significantly updated its structure and admissions process to meet the modern challenges of international research and higher education.
Nowadays, the University of Pisa is organized into 20 departments, hosting about 54,000 students, 1,517 faculty members and 1,477 technical and administrative staff members. It offers 127 bachelor and master programs, 20 PhD programs, 56 third-cycle specialization programs, and around 55 postgraduate programs, including an MBA.
Only a year after implementing DreamApply, the University of Pisa increased its incoming student applications by about 300%. We talked with the university’s admissions team and students to uncover the key factors behind this progress.
Adio Terranova on streamlining admissions with DreamApply
Adio Terranova from the International Admissions Office at the University of Pisa shares his journey of implementing DreamApply and the impact it has had on their admissions process.
Adio highlights several key features of DreamApply that have improved their workflow:
Simplified application management
“Before using DreamApply, we managed applications by email, and it was very uncomfortable because we often lost them. DreamApply helped us manage applications in a more effective and smarter way,” Adio explains.
Effective tracking of the applicant journey:
“A key aspect that I most like about DreamApply is the possibility to use labels to identify each step of the applications,” he notes.
Automated reminders
“Another important aspect was the fact that we were able to send automatic reminders to students. This made it easier to manage the whole application process,” Adio says.
Handling increased application volume
“In the first year we used DreamApply, we managed more than 700 applications compared to the 150-200 applications we handled before,” he highlights.
Support from the configuration team
“Our feedback is more than positive. We were helped a lot by Giorgi, the configuration manager. We consider expanding DreamApply to other programs at our university,” adds Adio.
Meghna Singh on her application experience
In addition to easing the work of admissions officers, DreamApply simplifies the applicant journey, as a first point of contact with the university.
We asked Meghna Singh, an alumna of the University of Pisa and the founder of Abroad Study Info, to share her experience. Meghna, with over 50,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel, guides students worldwide on studying and working abroad.

Meghna highlights several features of DreamApply that made her application process smooth and efficient:
Comprehensive application portal
“DreamApply has everything a student needs. It provides clear descriptions of the documents you need to upload, an inbox for notifications, and an easy way to pay the application fees,” Meghna says.
Ease of finding programs
“I loved how I could easily look for different master’s degree programs and use filters to find courses in English. It made it simple to see which applications were open and what the requirements were,” she explains.
Quick and simple process
“With DreamApply, I completed my application in just one or two hours. It made everything so simple,” Meghna shares.
